Festival Hair for 2016

Even if you’re not going to Coachella, you can still break out your concert coif because it is officially festival season in the Okanagan! Crop tops, over sized sunnies, bohemian fashion – now that the essentials are packed, its time to talk hair. Festival hair is all about looking carefree while on trend, allowing you more time at the concert instead of in front of the mirror. But if the idea of wearing another flower crown feels so…2012, we get it. We’ve scoured the scene to provide festival hair absent of the typical and heavy on the enviable.

Boho Braids

[column col=”2/3″]Boho braids come in many unique interpretations without limitations. We love this inspiration with chunky cornrow French braids that cascade down. This style provides a fuss free finish with your locks out of your eyes, ideal for crowd surfing. If you’re accessorizing with a hat we recommend parting your hair into two sections and then fishtail braiding each side. After the ends are secured, gently tug at the stands to loosen the braid for a messier finish (festival does NOT equal polished). If you are rocking hair accessories worth noticing, Plan B recommends going simplified on your mane by having your hair straightened with baby braids. To replicate this look, grab one inch sections of hair, and braid them tightly for tiny braids that seamlessly blend into the rest of your hair. Lastly for the braid aficionados out there, consider multiple braids (#braidception anyone?). Grab a small section of hair from behind your ear and braid it all the way to the tips. Wrap it across your forehead (by your hairline) and tuck it behind your other ear. Repeat for a chunky natural headband and finish with braiding the rest of your hair to the side.[/column]

Double Buns

[column col=”2/3″]Calling the 90’s child that has gone wild! We don’t want none unless you got buns hun! We know you have mastered the half-up top knot, or double bun we mentioned in our previous blog, but in case you need a refresher on this 90’s revival, let’s recap! This loose low maintenance style is dotting Coachella paying homage to raver starlets like Gwen Stefani and Bjork with the perfect combination of glitter and grunge. Want to step up your daily double buns to festival level? A little glitter roots never hurt anyone![/column]

Beachy Waves

[column col=”1/3″]

[/column]
[column col=”2/3″]We have cultivated five (yes FIVE) great ways to get beachy waves depending on your accommodation situation at the festival. The first and most natural method of securing mermaid worthy beach waves is by investing in a great sea salt spray to add texture to your hair and a perfect method if you’re outlet free. If you are glamping (lucky you), utilize your three-inch barrel curling iron for a quick and convenient heat method to tussle your tresses. If going au natural is your motivation try making your own sea salt spray and finish polishing the ends of your tips with sunscreen for an authentic beach scent. No time for fussing in the morning? No problem. Utilize the boho waves of yesterday by wetting them before bed to wake up to perfectly set waves. Lastly, if braids are not your thing consider utilizing the double buns we recommended, same method, same amazing effect.[/column]
