Blood, Sweat & Shears: Cuts for a Cure at UBCO

At Plan B we are passionate about being active in our community, that’s why when we’re asked to be a part of something we believe in, we do it! Last weekend, we rolled up in our mobile hair studio to donate our time, energy and clippers to Cuts for a Cure at UBCO. The event was held on campus, Thursday April the 2nd and is a fundraiser organized independently by students with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society.

“A lot of cancer patients lose their hair as they go through treatment, so head shaves and hair cuts are a very visible symbol of support.” says Tessa Dirksen from the Canadian Cancer Society. Many of the participants at the event were not only showing support but also also donating their hair to the cause.

One of our team members, Tim Davenport, spoke with Castanet News (read the article here) about participating in the event: “It’s a really fun thing to do, given the cause that it’s for. If only for a brief moment the people who are cutting their hair get a glimpse into what it might be like for a cancer patient who is losing their hair due to cancer treatment.”

This is the second year in a row that Plan B and our team has donated our time and talent, and it’s such a worthwhile cause we look forward to continuing to support and participate in the future.

See Our Team in Action!
